Oh baby!

Well......I have always said that I wanted to start a blog once Mark and I knew we were expecting and so the time has come! The story of how we found out is actually quite funny! I was in Baltimore, MD working a conference with my precious friend/coworker Bonnie. I decided it would be fun to take a pregnancy test there (even though I had already taken two before I left) and (hopefully) surprise Mark with a souvenir! So, Bonnie and I headed to CVS after watching a Baltimore Orioles game and purchased the test! I went back to the hotel only to find out the test was negative. I was a little disappointed but still had one test left that I was definately going to put to good use! I woke up at 5 a.m. and took the second test and, very quickly, the infamous PREGNANT showed in the test window. One of my first thoughts was "I can't believe how much free space there is in the window" because the words 'NOT' were absent! Then of course Bonnie woke up and we both hugged and prayed and cried together. Such a sweet moment! Of course, the next plan of action was how was I going to keep our surprise a secret until I got back to Birmingham. My solution--avoid all contact with Mark (and the rest of my family for that matter).
When Bonnie and I got to the airport, I bought a plush crab doll (because Maryland is known for their crab cakes, which were delicious by the way!) and decided I would tie the pregnancy test to the claw and give it to Mark as a souvenir! And once I got home, I did just that! Mark was so amazed to hear our good news! We cried and laughed and prayed to God, thanking our mighty Father for our answered prayer! And then we went out and bought 2 more tests just so we could read them again and again...
